I just noticed the power of the color RED.
Apparently if I wear shoes of the same model, shape and material in Black, Blue or even vivid colors as Yellow…nobody cares for it but if the shoe is RED than it does not go unnoticed.
So my wheels begin to turn and I wonder… WHY RED??
Here is what I found…
Attraction – specially sexual is known to be connected to visualize e.g. women around the world are attracted to symmetrical male bodies and faces, to the physical manifestations of testosterone (a strong chin, broad shoulders, deep voice), but also to a man’s social status, intelligence, and sense of humor. (second attraction signs after the visual impact). Men all over the world are attracted to signals of youth in a female (smooth skin, lush hair, generous lips), to the ‘hourglass’ figure.
But now, many studies point to another fundamental source of attraction: the color RED.
Red has always associated with passion and eroticism e.g. Red Light District, red roses, red lipstick, red wine..etc.
Of course Chromotherapy already had it right and RED represents energy/vitality and is associated to the metabolism.
AKA if you pain you room in a bright red = good luck in getting some peaceful sleep! You might get laid a lot but no restful sleep – according to chromotherapy.
And of course RED being the color of passion in Chakras it’s the color of our lower parts.
There are also many studies about the power of RED in sexual attraction and our response to the color.
One very interesting is French researcher Nicolas Guéguen.
He found that men attributed higher levels of sexual readiness to women wearing red.
Men, in the study, directed more intimate questions toward the ‘woman in red’ (intimate questions are a known indication of increased sexual interest). In addition, men chose to sit closer to the woman in red than to a woman dressed in a different color (blue, in this experiment).
Overall, it appears that men perceive a woman in red as signaling readiness for sex.
Andrew Elliot and Adam Pazda, conducted a research on the Internet, published a study last year showing that women, in their profile pictures, wore red more often on hook-up sites than on marriage-oriented dating sites. On dating sites overall, women expressing an interest in casual sex chose to present themselves dressed in red much more often than women who expressed an interest in serious relationships only. According to the results, women dressed in red are more than twice as likely to describe themselves as interested in casual sex than women wearing any other color.
So the link between the color red and sexual attraction appears to be subconscious. Just like a baboon with a big red bum is a hot thing to the female baboons. At the end of the day we are still monkeys 🙂
Apparently RED can also be associated with domination and not only sexy. When you wear it, you force other people to see it – giving you the dominant position and other people are instinctively attracted to it.
Funny thing human psychology.
RED is passion, strength, energy, fire, love, sex, excitement, speed, heat, arrogance, ambition, leadership, masculinity, power, danger, gaudiness, blood, war, anger, revolution, radicalism, socialism, communism, aggression, summer, autumn,
So for dummies out there…
You want to make an impression and be noticed wear RED.
Blood is red and I can think of many other things that are not that sexy …but that is another story!
