Marketing stroke of genius in the netherlands…

Dutchies are quite well-known for being very inventive and a little “out there”  when it comes to marketing strategies and commercials…

Heineken is the first to go back and forth from funny – to thoughtful – and then back to crazy straight to INSANE…

and insane with the last one the ODYSSEY…that still got me thinking about it…still stroke of genius from the marketing team 🙂

I could name more but up to you to look for it…

The point is the dutchies are inventive when it comes to find, promote or even survey products.

Another company that notoriously takes it to the next level is Even Apeldoorn bellen…if you are not familiar with it than you should look it up because most of their commercials play on irony and double senses…so they sell “accidents” policies can be fun to laugh at…Image

And there are other companies in the Low Lands that do not spare any fantasy and fun to get to the audience and sell…leave a mark…

I could go on forever…

But the point is the dutch marketeers take risks and even are able to “create” fake products to capture  attention…

A very similar and interesting example is this…

A print ad that was in every corner on the Netherlands… simple fun visual effect – bright colors – no humans – funny and catchy and especially selling a product to die for…fat burning beans…

Yes ….it is what they were selling and triggering your fantasy and curiosity… doing so giving your only an email to obtain more information about the product and not even a website to click on and buy…immediately…no you have to open your pc, laptop, ipad, iphone, android and then log in with your gmail, ymail, hotmail…or  whatever mail you can and type an email to ask what is this fantastic product and most importantly how to buy it…

effort…it takes you effort and work to find out something about this miraculous product in a world-wide nation of fatsies obsessed with being skinny, muscled and healthy… it gets you to use your not so used muscle (the brain) and to connect  and communicate with your hands and finger to find out how to BURN those fats in your body…

And then magic happens…

That is all you get from this product…funny images and if you have a little big more used brain muscle, you can figure out that a unique email is coupled with a website so you type on your web connected devices http://www.bigbangbeans.nl and there is not much there einther…agani only an email address…damn…intriguing and frustrating…

Well… too bad this product does NOT exist in any form, shape or fashion…it is not REAL…

The reality is the company reclamebureau JCDecaux faked this campaign to test the effectiveness and clients reach of their commercial locations… a real stroke of genius…

The results of the study were on the 6th campaign day:

+22,000 Searches via Google
Click through rate: 30% (according to Google:> 3% good,> 10% very good)
+10.000 Unique direct visitors http://www.bigbangbeans.nl (web address was not on the poster an email address only)
77% of searches are done through mobile devices (68% smartphones, tablets 9%)
High-frequency queries from 7:00 to 1:00, given the mobile search behavior shows that this campaign has generated a high range 16 hours a day
Range # BigBangBeans: +50.000 with highest peak during the first two days campaign

This is what it takes to get a product even if not real out there…fake it until you make it… but most important let you fantasy fly away and get in places to trigger reaction and be interesting using what we are now…in this case obsessed with body fat, weight, health, looking perfect…eating healthy… (I leave to you if I am using irony or not…)
